Why Do More People Opt for Smart Lipo Laser Liposuction? | Plastic Surgery

September 2nd, 2010 annie No comments

Laser liposuction, known as Smart Lipo, is already in use in Italy, Australia and the Far East and will soon be available at British cosmetic surgery clinics. Smart Lipo is literally a ‘walk in, walk out’ liposuction treatment and appeals to people wanting a quicker option than traditional liposuction, which may involve a general anaesthetic and overnight stay. The new development comes after clinics are already offering ‘lunch break’ breast enlargements, minor facelifts and Botox in

jections. The procedure, which in the United Kingdom will cost between around £1,000 and £2,500 depending on the size of the area treated, can be used to dissolve cellulite on hips, thighs and bottoms. Smart Lipo, which takes place under local anaesthetic, also claims to be able to smooth away double chins, love handles and flabby upper arms or ‘batwings’. The firm marketing the equipment in the UK claims that the technique has already been used safely on thousands of men and women around th

However, some experts are questioning the effectiveness of the procedure and they are warning that no type of cosmetic surgery is without some risk. There are also worries that speeding up the surgery into so-called “lunch break lipo” could trivialise cosmetic surgery. The problem, they say, is that patients may rush into surgery without fully understanding the risks. Only last year an alternative fat-dissolving procedure, known as Lipostabil, was banned by the medicines’ watchdog,

the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. These injections, known as “flab jabs” will no longer be used, pending further research into their safety.

Smart Lipo uses a tiny laser to break up the membrane of fat cells. This allows the oil stored inside the cells to seep out and be broken down by the liver. Collagen production is stimulated, causing the skin to tighten and bruising is minimal. This is in contrast to conventional liposuction, which uses a hollow needle to suction fat out of the body. Whilst a local anaesthetic can be used for small areas, treatment of larger areas such as the hips and thighs usually requires a general anaesthetic and an overnight stay.

It is considered that Smart Lipo will mostly appeal to people who want small amounts of fat to be removed, but do not necessarily want to go into hospital or undergo a major procedure involving general anaesthesia and an overnight stay. The best results will be for those people of normal or just above normal weight, who have localised stubborn fatty areas. It is clear that those who want large areas of fat removed are unlikely to get the results they need during a lunch break treatment.

The number of patients undergoing liposuction surgery is steadily rising, mainly due to the safer and less painful alternative techniques on offer. Although, as with every surgical procedure, there will always be at least a slight element of risk, it can be said that everything we do in life involves a risk, such as going out of the house in the mornings, walking across a busy road or driving along the motorway. So, if there is an option for not being the way you are and you are not happy with something about your body, then there is a case for going ahead and making yourself happier and more confident.

Breast Augmentation Implant Placement Options | Plastic Surgery

September 1st, 2010 annie No comments

If you are considering breast augmentation, one of the most important options you must consider is the placement of your breast implants. The placement of your breast implants can make a big difference not only in the appearance of your results, but also on the longevity of your results and other attendant health effects that may result from your breast augmentation.

There are three options for breast implant placement in breast augmentation:

›› Under the breast tissue (

subglandular)

›› Under the pectoral muscle (submuscular)

›› Partially under the pectoral muscle (biplanar)

Submuscular Placement

Submuscular placement of breast implants is the most common breast implant placement during breast augmentation.

Submuscular placement has many advantages. First, submuscular placement does a better job at concealing the implant, which is especially important for women with very little breast tissue. Submuscular placement also seems to

reduce your risk of capsular contracture, a serious complication of breast augmentation that can make your breasts hard, deformed, and painful, and may require surgical correction. Finally, submuscular placement of breast implants may improve visibility of breast tissue during a mammogram.

Submuscular placement does have some disadvantages. Some people do not like the breast shape that results and you may need a bigger implant to get the same amount of visible size increase. There may be more

postoperative discomfort and a longer recovery time. Also, women who use their pectoral muscles a lot (such as weight lifters) may not like the sensation of submuscular placement. Some doctors even believe submuscular placement may weaken the pectoral muscles.

Subglandular Placement

Subglandular placement of the breast implants is also commonly used.

The main advantage of subglandular placement is that it is a relatively quick procedure with a short recovery time. It also gives a more dramatic result, and, some say, a better breast shape.

Subglandular placement may have a higher risk of capsular contracture. It also does not do as good a job of concealing the breast implant, which is especially important for women who have little breast tissue and are getting saline breast implants (which are more likely to ripple). Subglandular breast implants may also make visualization of the breast tissue more difficult during mammograms, although the extent of the problem has diminished with increasingly accurate tools and practiced screeners.

Biplanar Placement

Biplanar placement is when the implants are placed partially under the muscle. The pectoral muscle is placed over the top of the implant. According to those doctors that use this placement, it gives more “lift” during a breast augmentation and is an excellent alternative to a simultaneous breast lift. Some also claim that this placement has the lowest risk of capsular contracture, but these claims have not been verified.

Others say that the biplanar placement is not stable and increases the risk that breast implants will “bottom out” (sink down the chest wall. The relative risk has not been well-documented.

Picking the right placement for your breast implants is an important part of getting the results you want from the procedure.

Abdominplasty Options | Plastic Surgery

August 31st, 2010 annie No comments

If you are considering an abdominiplasty in or around New York, you have many options, but to make sure you get the best possible results, you have to use care in choosing from among them.

Pick a Surgeon

In making decisions about your abdominoplasty, picking your surgeon is probably the most important decision you will make. To pick the best abdominoplasty surgeon, follow these guidelines.

• Pick a board-certified plastic surgeon. Abdominoplasty is major surgery, normally conduct

ed under general anesthesia, so there is the potential for serious complications. A board-certified plastic surgeon has additional training in the crucial aspects of plastic surgery that can have an impact on your risk of complications, such as the management of blood supply, how to avoid anesthesia complications, as well as how to achieve the optimal appearance with results.

• Ask where your surgery will be performed. In New York, the law requires that the place where surgeries are performe

d be inspected and accredited. Ask about who accredited the office and when, and you can check whether the doctor’s office is accredited at the New York Department of Health site.

• Ask your doctor about his experience with abdominoplasty.

• Ask to see before and after pictures of the doctor’s patients. Sometimes doctors will show you pictures of other doctors’ cases rather than their own–this is an important warning sign. You want to see the results your doctor has achieved for othe

r patients.

After considering these questions, pick a doctor with whom you are fully comfortable.

Pick a Procedure

If you pick a surgeon with whom you are completely comfortable, he will have a recommendation about what procedure will best meet your cosmetic goals. In most cases, it is best to trust this recommendation, but it is also good to understand the different abdominoplasty options that are available:

• Full abdominoplasty– Sometimes called a traditional or typical abdominoplasty, this procedure removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tightens abdominal muscles from the rib cage to the pubic area.

• Mini abdominoplasty- Only removes excess skin and fat from the navel to the pubic region. May or may not include muscle tightening.

• Extended abdominoplasty- Like a full abdominoplasty, but includes the removal of excess skin and fat from the love handle area. Sometimes also includes an outer thigh lift.

• Circumferential abdominoplasty-Sometimes called a belt abdominoplasty, this procedure removes excess skin and fat from around the entire body. Sometimes includes an outer thigh lift and buttock lift. In every case, it is best to weight the potential risks of your surgery against the expected results.

Rhinoplasty for Health: Beyond the Aesthetics | Plastic Surgery

August 29th, 2010 annie No comments

How is rhinoplasty taken for health and reconstructive purposes?

Rhinoplasty is a procedure that is commonly employed for two main reasons. Some people undergo this surgical procedure for the sake of improving their overall looks. While other people see this procedure as the best remedy for respiratory obstructions brought about by congenital birth defects, physical damage or trauma. The primary concern of this type of rhinoplastic procedure is to restore nose back to full functional c

apacity.

Reconstructive Rhinoplasty for Children

Children typically undergo reconstructive rhinoplasty due to congenital birth defects that impaired both the aesthetic and the functional properties of the nose. Such cases include the incomplete development of the nasal cavity which typically leads to breathing difficulties. Problems like this make it more difficult for the younger patients in more ways than one as they would often get subjected to minor, but nonetheless, traumatic forms of

psychological and emotional torment. This is usually brought about by other children who thoughtlessly teased the patient without any understanding about their medical situation. At this point the line between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery usually gets blurred. This is because in cases like these the surgical team would have to consider both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the nose. Although the restoration of the nose and its internal structure’s full functionality would be the m

Reconstructive Rhinoplasty for Adults

As for adults reconstructive rhinoplasty is typically employed to repair nasal damage brought about by physical trauma. The patient might have had an accident or was brutally assaulted by some hooligan. Sometimes reconstructive rhinoplastic surgerymight be employed to correct the results of a previous procedure. I Want Bigger Breasts Without Surgery

Men are drawn into women with large breasts, that is just a fact of life. It is incredible how much your confidence sky rockets if your boobs are big. Having the right size and shape of breasts will have men all over you. Many women get what they want out of life because of their boob size.

Unfortunately, not all of us are born with nice shaped and sized breasts. In order to enlarge our breasts we have to do something bout it.

You can go the i

mplant route. However, that is very painful and expensive. Also it doesn’t always work and ends up hurting you in the long-run.

Or you can go the natural route. I have a breast enlargement exercise for you that can change that.

There are four steps to this exercise and they are listed below:

In the first step I want you to hold two light weights (around 2.5KG to 5KG each) with your back touching the ground. Ideally you will be laying down on a soft surface. I Want Bigger Breasts Without S

In the second step I want you to elevate your hands just to your shoulder with the two light weights. Once they reach your shoulder I want you to take them back to starting position. You should repeat this about 10-12 times in three sets.

In the third step, while you are on the mat relaxing on the ground, I want you to carry the weights right above your boobs. Following that you should bend your elbow below and take the weights just under your lower chest and then back up to your brea

sts. This routine should be repeated around 10-14 times in three sets.

In the final step, you want you to move the weight sideways and rotate them in circular movements. This should also be repeated 10-12 times in three sets.

This is an extremely effective exercise where you will notice amazing results. You need to stick to it for at least five weeks and then you will notice a significant increase in the size of your boobs.

The only down-side of this breast enlargement exercise is that it takes a lot of time, patience and is quite tiring. I know some of you are too busy with work and family commitments to do this exercise everyday.

No need to worry. There are more faster and efficient ways to increase the size of your breasts without having to exercise. Read on to find out. I Want Bigger Breasts Without Surgery
