Cell Phone Radiation | Cancer
Studies have shown that by wearing your cell phone on our hip, you could be harming your bones or even affect your fertility (”Cell Phone on your Hip Weakens your Bones.” Mercola. Web. 24 Feb. 2010 p.1). In addition, you have many sensitive organs in that general area that are all susceptible to radiation, such as: your liver, kidneys, colon, and bladder. It is important to realize that even if you are not making a call as long as your phone is on, it emits

Scientists have found that the radio waves emitted by cell phones can harm blood cells and cause cellular changes, damage your DNA, cause nerve damage, damage your eyes, cause sleep disruptions, fatigue, headaches, and even accelerate and contribute to onset of autism and trigger Alzheimer’s disease (Mercola 2). Dr. Mercola believes that this exponential increase in this radio frequency radiation exposure is far more serious a

threat than even tobacco ever was.
Cell phones are used by an estimated 275 million people in the United States and four billion worldwide (Mercola 2)! With all these people using cell phones and the rise of cancer occurring, heads are starting to turn to try to find the cause. A recent study was done that had alarming results. This study showed a three hundred percent increase in genetic damage when human blood cells were exposed to radiation, a significant increase in a risk of brain tumors on whichever side the cell phone was held most, a sixty percent greater chance of acoustic neuromas, and even a higher rate of brain cancer deaths among handheld mobile phone users than among car phone users (Mercola 2).
Although this is such a serious problem, there is an easy solution to reduce your risk. Getting rid of your cell would drastically minimize your exposure but this is not always possible for some. Some guidelines to help reduce your risk are reduce your cell phone use, use a land line at home and work, reduce or eliminate use of other wireless devices, use your cell phone only where the reception is good so your phone doesn’t have to use more power, turn your cell off when not in use, and use the new technology of a shielded case to help shield up to 99.9% of radiation emitted (Mercola 4).
