Most people have heard of Chiropractors but not everyone fully understands what it is that a Chiropractor does or how he is helpful to others.  What is a Chiropractor? How do Chiropractors help the people who come to them for treatment? How do Chiropractors treat their patients’ problems?  This article will answer all of these questions.

Chiropractors are medical professionals that specialize in diagnosing and treating injuries and disorders that are related to the spine and the joint.  The

Chiropractors use a “hands on” approach to help their patients overcome their injuries and relieve their pain and their care is focused on the adjusting and manipulation of the skeletal system and the muscles that immediately surround them.

In the United Kingdom a Chiropractor is required to obtain a degree from one of the four accredited educational institutions.  Chiropractic students need to complete at least thirty six hundred hours of accredited coursework (or the equivalent of a four

ological and orthopaedic exam and possibly have a few x-rays taken or be given a few tests.

Follow up visits to the Chiropractor will involve the patient’s spine being realigned which is done through vertebrae manipulation (or “cracking”).  Adjustment to the back is done via a method in which the Chiropractor forces a joint to move out of its usual range of motion and then places it back in its original position with a single, quick and controlled movement.  The jolt from this movement forces the gases that have been building up around the joint to be released, which helps to relieve the pressure that has been placed on the joint as well as the rest of the spinal system.

Chiropractors also work with patients to improve their motion range by moving the patient’s body into different poses and forcing the muscles to stretch in ways that feel foreign but will help speed up the patient’s recovery.  Electrical stimulation and massage are also regular forms of treatment used when someone visits the Chiropractor.

In addition to the physical manipulation of a patient’s body, a Chiropractor will also help his patients figure out how other areas of their lives might be affecting their injuries.  Chiropractors can work with patients to improve their diet and exercise routines.  Chiropractors do quite a lot to help people feel better!
