Effective Natural Remedies for Ear Infections

Ear infections are divided into two broad categories: acute otitis media (AOM) and secretory otitis media (otitis media with effusion (OME)). Children who have OME filling of fluid in the middle ear. Children who have AOM fluid in the middle ear and the ear. May they have marked redness of the eardrum and distinct bulging of the eardrum, often with fever. Both conditions call for different treatment.

Garlic can also be crushed and used for the earache by crushing a clove of garlic into one tsp of olive oil and then warm to blood temperature. Using a dropper, a few drops applied into the ear with serve as a local antibiotic. (Never do this home remedy if experiencing any severe pain or have a perforation in your ear drum. Garlic solution should never be boiled or attempted to be put in your ear if overheated, as this could cause sever burns. Consult with your physician on any new therapies you are not familiar with.)

Put few drops of garlic juice into the infected ear. Use blow dryer from about 12 to 15 inches from your head, this will remove any water trapped in the Eustachian tube. Put some olive oil on the warm spoon; put 2 to 3 drops of this in each ear. Put few drops of lobelia extract into the infected ear and rub it gently. Wash your ear using colloidal silver, it is a natural antibiotic. Slightly warm one teaspoon of juice of the mango leaf and put it into the infected ear drop by drop.

Avoid going in front of any one smoking because cigarette smoke can block Eustachian tubes. Avoid accompanying people suffering from cold. Wash your hands regularly. Avoid touching nose and eyes.

An ear infection affects important parts in the ear that help us hear. Sounds around us are collected by the outer ear. Then sound travels to the middle ear, which has three tiny bones and is filled with air. After that, sound moves on to the inner ear. The inner ear is where sounds are turned into electrical signals and sent to the brain. An ear infection affects the whole ear, but especially the middle and inner ear. Hearing is affected because sound cannot get through an ear that is filled with fluid.

This is also called “Swimmer’s ear”. The protective film on the top of the ear canal or lipid layer is removed. This canal looks ruddy and swollen. Such a condition arises when water, dirt, sand or some debris enters the ear canal. Malignant external otitis may form when bacteria attack the bones in the ear canal and spread to the base of the skull.

If the cheek of the same side of the ear affected is red and the person is unable to tolerate the pain then take chamomilla.

Take a teaspoonful of sesame oil and add half a clove of garlic to this oil. Heat it on a flame to make it a little warm. Put four drops of this oil in the open ear. Lie on this side for ten to fifteen minutes. Then turn over and put the oil in the second ear also. Lie on this side too for ten to fifteen minutes. This is one of the effective home remedies for earache. If the ear is red, hot and painful especially after exposure to cold temperature, use Aconite, this homeopathic remedy is excellent for ear infection.
